This is actually probably the worst vet I’ve ever been to in my entire life. A little over a year ago my GSD was having issues with havunf diarrhea pretty consistently. I scheduled an appointment, paid the $75 deposit and brought in a stool sample. The vet tech looked me dead in my face and told me there was a possibility she had CANCER and took her back to the room, despite the fact that I told her my dog has immense anxiety, cannot he in a muzzle and I need to be in the room with her. They did not allow me and did not allow my dog to be seen due to “aggression” when she was returned to the room and laid right beside me. I had a panic attack and was yelling at the techs after they told me they refused to see her, AFTER telling me she likely had cancer and refused to see her, and then kicked me out of the office.
Fast forward to one week ago, my GSD was having symptoms of a UTI, I attempted to schedule an emergency appointment but the soonest one was in the next week, which was today. Upon scheduling over the phone I asked for a price estimate and I was told it would be between $350 - $400, as I had to pay for their “chill” protocol and a deposit which was not included in the above estimate ^. I also did not have the option to go into the exam room and was only allowed to book a drop off appointment. I brought my GSD to the appointment after administering her the “chill” protocol and to my surprise somehow nlw the estimate is listed between $500 - $1000 (yes I have the printed estimate) They asked if I wanted an X-ray and I stated no and to call me before doing any additional work besides her updated record, flea, tick, heart worm medications, a nail trim, and the UTI culture. At the reception area they asked me about her reactivity and I told them “yes, she cannot see a muzzle as she has immense anxiety if I am not with her”. They took her back and told me I could pick her up later in the afternoon.
I go to work and I received a phone call stating that the Doctor wanted to order additional sedation and an ultrasound as they thought she might have a tumor on her bladder. (Yes the SECOND time they have tried to gaslight me into my dog having the possibility of cancer). I told them no to the ultrasound, sedation, and x-ray and to only do the urine culture, nail trim, rabies vaccine, and fleas ticks and heart worms. I get a call at 3:30 telling me my sweet girl is ready to be picked up.
I go to pick her up, I pay the money which is now, surprisingly, $180. It takes them a while to print the invoice and as I am standing there waiting (along with 4 others who were not even checked in by reception) 4 vet techs peek through the window at me (and do not even help the others waiting to be checked in). When the receptionist comes back you, imagine my surprise when they tell me the only things they were able to do were the rabies vaccine and a free catch urine sample after my dog was there for EIGHT HOURS. The receptionist then begins to tell me that she also might have LYMES DISEASE. So now this is 3 serious illnesses they are gaslighting me into thinking my GSD is having with little to no justifying information to provide to me other than it being a possibility… I then read the summary of her visit, and the first thing they tried to do? Walked into the room with a muzzle.
These people are only concerned about conning people out of money at the expense of playing into the fact that customers care about their animals like family. It is clear to me that their intention was to only scare me into paying hundreds of dollars to services and TRAUMA that was unnecessary for my dog. They do not listen to boundaries and are only interested in doing what is easiest for them. Reactive dogs deserve to be treated with fragility, as my dog is only reactive due to a history of abuse, but clearly that does not matter. DO NOT under any circumstance take your pets here, as they do not respect your boundaries and are only concerned about their own agenda.
Ginger had a cyst burst, appointments were a week out, so we chose an emergency visit. Staff was super nice as always and got us in the next morning. They also were very helpful when I lost my Chinese Crested to cancer, they went beyond to make him and us comfortable ❤️.
The place is clean, staff is great and the doctors know their stuff, yes I do recommend Arlington Heights veterinary.
Clean facility and nice staff however, the timing is absolutely terrible showed up on walk-in Wednesday At about noon, ask the person sitting next to me how long they’ve waited they said two hours so I expected about a two hour wait a little after two hours they called me back and then I proceeded to wait another 30 minutes in the back not a single staff member came back for even the Introduction to figure out what’s going on super disappointed with wasting my day and they Called me roughly 20 minutes After I leftmeaning that they would’ve left me and my pet alone in a room for almost 40 minutes with not quite 3 1/2. Based on what I could hear going on in the room behind the vet rooms, I would’ve been waiting probably two more hours before I left based on the pet. They mentioned that went back when I first arrived.
